My name is Karen Noriega and I was born in Salamanca, Mexico on April 10, 1998. I only have one brother named Alexis, who is 21 years old. My family moved to Texas a few years before I was born. So when the time came to apply for my permanent residence card, I stayed in Mexico with my grandparents for a few months until everything was sorted out. Finally, at the age of 3, I moved to Joshua, Texas and I've been here ever since. About five years ago, I obtained my U.S. citizenship. I still visit my family in Mexico twice a year, but I've made my life here. Just this past year I graduated high school, and this is my second semester at TCC. I plan on transferring to either the University of Texas at Arlington or Tarleton, where I want to major in Bilingual Early Childhood Education, and eventually teach either kindergarten or first grade.
